Digital signage templates and content ideas

Digital signage templates in screenRIG are 200+ ready-made apps that your AI agent fills in with your words and numbers: menus, schedules, announcements, scoreboards, dashboards and more. They come in nine themes, they draw their own text on the screen, and a changed word reaches every screen without a new picture.

  1. You

Put a welcome on the lobby screen for today's visitors: Maya Chen from Harbor Bank and Luis Ortega from Brightline Dental. Make it easy to read from the door.

  2. Agent

Done. The lobby screen shows a greeting for the time of day, then Maya Chen of Harbor Bank and Luis Ortega of Brightline Dental, in large type. I checked a screenshot to be sure. Give me tomorrow's names and I will swap them.

02 How templates work in screenRIG

How templates work in screenRIG

There is no template to download and fit. Your agent starts from one of three kinds of starting point:

  • A ready-made app. A designed screen that draws its own text: a menu, a room sign, a ticker, a spotlight, a countdown. Your agent fills in the words, and the app is already laid out for a TV. See the apps gallery. A changed price or name updates every screen that shows it.
  • A playlist template. A playlist with named fields, such as a headline. Your agent fills the fields and makes a new playlist (playlist create --from-template). A built-in Urgent notice template, a headline and a message, is there for quick announcements. Playlist templates come with Plus and above, see pricing.
  • A finished poster. Your agent writes the copy and the look into a prompt and generates a finished picture, in 16:9 for a landscape screen or 9:16 for an upright one, or you give it your own art and it puts text over it.

All of them play on every Player, and the ready-made apps keep their own text editable. The design side is the theme: the apps come in nine themes you can switch between.

03 What is a digital poster?

What is a digital poster?

A digital poster is a poster on a screen: a picture or an app, often upright, that says one thing to the people who pass it. It can change by the hour, play with others in a loop, show a countdown or take a schedule. An electronic poster does what a printed one does without a print run. A portrait screen is 1080 by 1920 in the units your agent designs in, and a landscape one is 1920 by 1080.

Your agent can make a poster in two ways. A generated poster is one picture with the artwork and the type laid out together, so all the copy goes in the request. An app keeps its text editable, so a changed name or date needs no new picture. Pick a generated poster for a one-off message, and an app for anything that changes.

School hallways and classrooms

A school is one place where screens do several jobs at once. The same ready-made apps cover them:

  • The message of the week. An announcement shows one rotating message at a time, the same on every hallway screen, in large type that reads from across the corridor.
  • Recognising people. A spotlight shows one person at a time with a photo or monogram, their role or grade and a line in their own words. Swap the name each month, or loop several.
  • The day's timings. The bell schedule and school lunch sit beside the announcements at the door.
  • Who leads. House points and a class challenge show standings as they change.
  • A ceremony. Commencement names shows each name, degree and honours as graduates take the stage.

The schools page shows a school's screens working together.

08 Make it yours

Make it yours

Tell your agent who the screen is for, what it should say and where it hangs. It picks the app or generates the poster, fills it in, publishes it and checks a screenshot. To change it later, say what changed.

  1. You

Make the break room screen cheerful: a countdown to the summer party on July 18, the team's kudos and a stretch break reminder.

  2. Agent

Done. The break room loop shows the countdown to July 18, the latest kudos and a stretch break reminder, one page after another. I checked a screenshot of each page.

09 Digital signage template questions

Digital signage template questions

What are digital signage templates?

Ready-made designs you fill in. In screenRIG they are 200+ apps, playlist templates and generated posters. Your AI agent fills them in and puts them on your screens.

Can I make my own template?

Yes. A playlist template is a playlist with named fields that your agent fills in each time. Playlist templates come with Plus and above. A custom application is another route, when a screen has a job of its own.

What size is a digital poster?

1920 by 1080 for a landscape screen and 1080 by 1920 for an upright one. Ask your agent to generate a poster in 16:9 or 9:16, or another shape such as 4:3.

Do templates work on every screen?

The ready-made apps play on every Player, including the Apple TV. Pages that hold a web page or a custom app need a Player that shows web pages.

What do digital signage templates cost?

screenRIG is free, with unlimited screens. Paid plans add business tools, more people, people to talk to, governance and contract terms. See pricing.

Next: browse every app in the apps gallery, or ask your agent what to put on your first screen.
