Free digital signage software for the Amazon Signage Stick and Fire TV Stick

The free screenRIG Player runs on the Amazon Signage Stick and on Fire TV Sticks. Install it from the Amazon Appstore, read the code on the screen to your AI agent, and the stick plays what you ask for, including a camera on your network.

  1. You

Show my front door camera on the stick. The camera's address is rtsp://192.168.1.50:554/stream1.

  2. Agent

Done. The camera page is on the screen, about two seconds after I published it. The stick connects to the camera itself over your network, and until it does, or if the picture stalls, it shows a still I made that says Front door, Camera feed, Reconnecting.

01 Put the Player on the stick

Put the Player on the stick

  1. Open the Amazon Appstore listing on the stick, or search the Amazon Appstore for screenRIG Player, and install it.
  2. Launch it. The Player fills the screen with a code for your agent.
  3. Press OK on the remote and choose Settings. Start on boot is on by default, and once its permission is granted the Player opens by itself when the stick restarts.

On Fire OS 8, the one-time permission behind Start on boot is granted from a computer. The Player guide has the steps.

The listing, checked on 2026-10-26, installs the Player on the Amazon Signage Stick and on compatible Fire TV devices, and gives each device the build made for it, including the older 1st and 2nd generation Fire TV Sticks. The Appstore and Google Play builds are one product on two shopfronts, so the Android TV page describes the menu and settings they share.

02 Show a camera on the stick

Show a camera on the stick

The Player opens camera addresses that start with rtsp:// or rtsps:// itself, over the stick's own network, with no relay. Use the address your camera or recorder gives, including its login.

A camera page also needs a still image from the same account as its fallback. The Player shows it while the camera connects, if the picture stalls, or if it cannot reach the camera. The still is saved on the stick, so it shows even offline.

The fallback image on a dark screen: FRONT DOOR in amber, Camera feed in large type and Reconnecting beneath it
The still your agent made. A test screen cannot open a camera, so it shows the still; the stick opens the camera itself.

Keep to one camera per page and let the page change on a timer. Add an HLS address as a second source, and Players that do not open RTSP still have something to play.

03 What the stick plays and reports

What the stick plays and reports

The Amazon build plays images, video up to 4K (what decodes depends on the stick), live HLS streams, web pages, apps and cards. It reports its health every fifteen minutes and whenever its display connection or power changes. Its display power is an on-screen blackout driven by a schedule that runs on the stick even offline. The Player guide lists what every Player reports.

04 Next, show your own camera

Ready to try your own camera? The RTSP camera guide walks through the address, the network and the fallback image.
