# Samsung Tizen signage software for Smart Signage displays

> Canonical HTML: https://screenrig.ai/digital-signage/samsung-tizen

A Samsung Smart Signage display on Tizen runs the screenRIG Player on the display itself. Install it once, read the code the display shows to your AI agent, and the display plays what you ask for. No box sits behind the screen.

Updated November 6, 2026.

> **You:** The Samsung display in the lobby shows a code, ABC 234. Pair it, call it Lobby Samsung, and put today's visitors and their meeting rooms on it.
>
> **Agent:** Paired. Lobby Samsung is showing today's visitors with their rooms, and I checked a screenshot to be sure.

## Does a Samsung Smart Signage display run screenRIG?

Yes. Samsung Smart Signage displays on Tizen 6.0 or newer run the native screenRIG Player. It is built for the display's own chipset, so the display needs no media player box and no server of your own. Your agent builds the screens, and you do not have to learn an editor.

## Put the Player on the display

1. Check that the display runs Tizen 6.0 or newer.
2. Install the screenRIG app from the display's URL Launcher. The [Downloads page](https://screenrig.ai/downloads.md#tizen) lists the Player for Samsung Smart Signage, and the [Player guide](https://screenrig.ai/docs/players.md#commercial-displays) covers commercial displays.
3. The app starts at power-on and hands the screen to the Player, which shows a pairing code.
4. Read the code to your agent, as in the chat above.

Your agent needs the screenRIG plugin once. [Start](https://screenrig.ai/docs/start.md) installs it with one paste.

## Samsung Smart Signage display or Samsung TV?

The native Player is for Samsung's commercial Smart Signage displays. A Samsung consumer TV is a different product: open the Player web app in its browser, or plug in a stick. The [smart TV guide](https://screenrig.ai/guides/smart-tv-digital-signage.md) compares the routes.

## What the Samsung Player plays

| Content | Samsung Smart Signage |
| --- | --- |
| Images and video | Yes |
| Live streams | HLS |
| Web pages | Yes |
| Your own apps | Yes |
| Ready-made apps | Yes |

## It starts with the display

After a restart or a power cut, the app starts by itself and opens the Player. If the network is not up yet, the display keeps its start screen and tries again, waiting longer each time, up to an hour. Once the Player has loaded before, a power-on with no network still opens it, and it plays what it saved. Press Info on the remote to see the app's status.

The Player downloads your content once and plays it from the display's own storage, so video does not buffer and a dropped network does not stop it.

## What a Samsung display can show

Everything the web Player can: images, video, live streams as HLS, web pages, ready-made apps such as menus, queues and dashboards with live data, and your own apps. A playlist can also carry a soundtrack. To put a web page on the display around the clock, see [Display a website on a TV 24/7](https://screenrig.ai/guides/website-on-tv-24-7.md).

## Update a whole building in one sentence

Give each display a name and a tag for where it hangs, and your agent changes all of them at once.

> **You:** Put the fire drill notice on every display tagged north-building, and take it off at 3 pm.
>
> **Agent:** Done. The notice is on every display tagged north-building, and I checked a screenshot of each. It comes off at 3 pm.

## Samsung signage questions

### Does Samsung Smart Signage run screenRIG?

Yes. Samsung Smart Signage displays on Tizen 6.0 or newer run the native Player, which starts at power-on.

### Do I need a media player box behind a Samsung display?

No. The Player runs on the display's own chipset, so there is no box and no server of your own.

### What Tizen version does the Player need?

Tizen 6.0 or newer.

### Does a Samsung display keep playing with no network?

Yes. The Player downloads your content once and plays it from the display's own storage. Once the Player has loaded before, a power-on with no network still opens it and plays what it saved.

### Can I manage many Samsung displays at once?

Yes. Give each display a name and a tag for where it hangs, and your agent changes all of them in one request.

### What does Samsung signage software cost?

The displays are your cost. screenRIG is free, with unlimited screens. Paid plans add business tools, more people, people to talk to, governance and contract terms. See [pricing](https://screenrig.ai/pricing.md).
